As the second half is upon us, the AL MVP race may appear to be down to just two men. However, there are some very live contenders down the board who could give reigning MVP Shohei Ohtani a run for his money. Let’s dive in to find out who holds the value as the days of summer begin to dwindle.

Who will win American League MVP?

Here are the odds for 2022 American League MVP, per DraftKings Sportsbook.

Why is Shohei Ohtani the Favorite to Win the AL MVP?

After briefly slipping from the top spot, Shohei Ohani is once again the odds-on favorite for the AL MVP award entering the second half. However, he’s getting it done much more on the mound than at the plate. For the season, he’s 9-4 with a 2.38 ERA and has racked up 123 strikeouts over 87 innings. Whereas, at the dish, he’s hitting just .258 with 19 homers and 56 RBIs. Although, Ohtani’s xBA is .274, so he could be in store for a big second half.

AL MVP Darkhorses

Rafael Devers, Boston Red Sox (+1800)

You can make the argument that Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers has been the best hitter in the American League. He enters the second half hitting .324 with 22 homers and 55 RBI. Devers is only 0.3 behind Aaron Judge in total WAR and Ohtani’s value has been built on the mound. If the Red Sox can stay make a playoff push, Devers is certainly worthy of MVP consideration.

Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros (+1000)

The Astros slugger is expected to be return from the IL once the Astros begin the second half — that is a huge plus for his MVP candidacy. Alvarez has become one of the most feared hitters in baseball. He’ll begin the second half hitting .306 with 26 home runs and 60 RBI. The Astros have already proven that they are one of the best team in baseball, so expect a healthy Alvarez to be in the MVP hunt down the stretch.

How To Bet On AL MVP odds

Step 1: Set up a sports betting account

Setting up a sportsbook account is a simple process, and it would be wise to do so on as many as possible. All they need is some basic information, and then you’ll be ready to place your first wager in no time. It is essential to have multiple accounts to shop for odds and take advantage of all the free money books like to hand out to new users.

Step 2: Deposit money into your account

Essentially every book will have some kind of deposit bonus for you after you sign up. So be sure to weigh your options once your account is made.

Step 3: Make an AL MVP futures bet

AL MVP odds are their juiciest prior to the season, so it is ideal to get them while the value is at its highest. So say you like Aaron Judge to take home the AL MVP award this year. A winning bet placed now would line your pocket nicely as it would turn $100 into $1900.

These odds will be up throughout the season and will change quickly, so be sure to check back and see if more value arises throughout the year.
