Before Derrick Henry went down for the rest of the regular season with a foot injury in Week 9 last year, he was well on his way to his third-straight NFL rushing title. “King Henry” is one of, if not the most dominant rushers in the sport, and he will be back and healthy for the 2022 regular season.
Even after missing nine weeks in 2021, Henry finished ninth in the NFL with 937 rushing yards.
This was after a 2,027-yard season in 2020 and a 1,540-yard rushing season in 2019. Henry’s numbers over the last couple of years have been absolutely amazing.
Looking at his 2022 outlook, DraftKings Sportsbook has Henry’s rushing prop set at 1,350.5 yards. Oddsmakers believe that Henry will bounce back and be around the top of the league in rushing, but they are not expecting Henry to have another record-breaking rushing season. Henry recorded 10 rushing touchdowns in eight games last season, and his prop is set at 13.5 for the 2022 season.
Henry will turn 29 years old at the end of the 2022 regular season, and he has a ton of miles on his legs. Henry frequently leads the league in carries and is one of the few true workhorse backs in the NFL.

How Many Rushing Yards Will Derrick Henry Have in 2022?

Henry was able to play in the playoffs last season after his foot injury, but he did not look sharp at all in the postseason. Henry has had the whole offseason to recover, so I expect him to be back in shape for this season. Henry is getting old, and I don’t think he will be as good as last season, meaning the 2022 season will be the final act for King Henry.
Henry will have a harder time accumulating yards this season, but I certainly still expect him to go over this total. The Titans have worse weapons around him, a worse offensive line and more competition for Henry, but I do not see his numbers dropping. Henry is a violent runner who can beat defenders with his breakaway speed, and as long as he is still getting fed the rock, he will continue to gain yards.
The Titans seem to have taken a step backward offensively on paper, but this should still bode well for Henry. If the Titans are struggling with their passing attack, what are they going to do? Feed Henry. If Tennessee needs to kill the clock or get a first down, who will they give the football to? Henry. This has been their formula for the past three seasons, and I do not expect it to change despite Henry’s age. The 1,350.5 number is high for most running backs, but Henry makes seasons like this look routine.
How Many Rushing Touchdowns Will Derrick Henry Have in 2022?

Henry is one of the few workhorse running backs in football, and this leads to countless red-zone opportunities for him to hit pay dirt. In the last two years, Henry eclipsed 14 touchdowns apiece easily and was well on his way to doing it again last season before his injury.
Henry had 10 rushing touchdowns in just eight games last season. The entire world knows he will be getting the football in goal-to-go situations, and still, no one can stop him. Mix in the fact that Henry has the speed to break off 99-yard rushing touchdowns, and I see no way for him to go under this total unless he gets injured.
The Titans’ top two wide receiver weapons will be new to the offense this season, so this also leads me to believe Henry will get most of the opportunities. The Titans may try to relax Henry’s workload so he is ready for the playoffs, but they also do not make the playoffs without him being a top-tier rusher. I think Henry will have all the necessary opportunities to score 14 or more touchdowns this season.
