Season Record: 39-29, +12.09 (Bonus not included in record)

I still like my bonus bets even though I don’t include them in the official record. The reason I list three official picks is because I don’t want to confuse anyone with too many picks. I also feel strong about my bonus picks but they are longer shots. If you’re looking for more be sure to check out our Pick Tracker

The Best NHL Prop Bets

Pierre-Luc Dubois Over 2.5 SOG

(-134, BetRivers)

This is the pick I led Tuesday this morning on Mean Streets, and the Winnipeg Jets on the puck line is our free Bet of the Day at FTN Bets.com. Over the last six weeks of the season, according to Natural Stat Trick, the Habs have allowed the fourth-most shot attempts, third-most shots and they have the highest expected goals against rate at 5v5/60. They placed three forwards on IR (Joel Armia, Juraj Slafkovsky and Jake Evans) and Jonathan Drouin is questionable to play. Since December 1st, the Canadiens rank second in scoring chances allowed and high danger chances surrendered at 5v5/60. It may be worth your time to jump on some of the point props listed below, because Pierre-Luc Dubois’ shot prop price has changed across books. PLD has cleared 2.5 shots in six straight games and eight of his past nine contests. He has at least 4 shots in five of his past eight games. He’s also racked up five goals and 12 points over his last 10 games. The first line of Dubois, Kyle Connor and Nikolaj Ehlers should get plenty of chances at 5v5 and on the power play as the Canadiens lead the league in penalty minutes. Consider him and Ehlers for assists as well.

Bonus

  • Pierre-Luc Dubois Goal (+192, FanDuel Sportsbook)
  • Nikolaj Ehlers Assist (+126, FanDuel Sportsbookl)
  • Dubois & Ehlers Point Same-Game Parlay (+115, Bet365)
  • Mark Scheifele & Blake Wheeler Point Same-Game Parlay (+180, Bet365)
  • Cole Caufield Over 3.5 SOG (+106, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Matty Beniers Point

(-128, FanDuel Sportsbook)

I say we go right back to Matty, tonight as the Kraken and Oilers have combined for 16 goals in their last two meetings. Those two games came over the past two weeks as well. I like a lot from this game, including the 6.5 goal total, which I put in the Bet Tracker Tuesday morning. I still believe books are sleeping on Seattle’s offensive and 5v5 game. Seattle enters third in the league in goals per game (3.70) and first in goals at 5v5/60. It’s possible we see a downtick in the second half in their league-high 11.14 SH% at 5v5/60, but let’s ride this out. Beniers has five multi-point games in his last eight contests, one which came in his last game against the Oilers. He’s hit the score sheet in six of his past eight games overall. The over on his 1.5 shot prop is juiced, but consider it in a two-leg shot prop parlay.

Bonus

  • Matty Beniers Assist (+160, FanDuel Sportsbook)
  • Beniers, Jordan Eberle, Andre Burakovsky Point Same-Game Parlay (+400, Bet365)

Patrik Laine OVER 3.5 SOG

(+132, FanDuel Sportsbook)

Outside of Cole Caufield at 3.5 SOG, Patrik Laine is my favorite plus-money shot prop Tuesday. He has four and five shots in his last two games and had nine shots in a game last week. Health is certainly a concern, but when Laine is on the ice skating, he’s a threat to put five plus pucks towards the net. The sniper has 35 shot attempts over his past five games (ninth overall since January 8th). He only averaged 2.9 shots per game last season, but he’s averaging 3.4 over 28 games this season. Johnny Gaudreau probably has something to do with it. Over the last six weeks at 5v5/60, the Preds rank second in shot attempts and shots allowed.
