The PGA Tour’s long, one-week offseason, has come to an end and the first event on the 2022 PGA Schedule is upon us.  Although not a strong field, some big names have come to California for the Fortinet Championship (formerly the Safeway Open) which will be played at the Silverado Resort and Spa.  

The course is not new to the event, although the sponsor is.  It’s relatively easy with scoring below par to varying degrees each year, and the field will see a lot of wedge/short irons into greens that are quite easy to hit in regulation.  Nothing really unique stands out about it, and most stats are close to tour average outside of yielding shorter iron shots than most courses.
