We are just over two weeks away from the 2022 NFL season, and the excitement in the air is unmatched. Preseason is almost over, rosters are being cut down, and the journey to the Super Bowl begins shortly. It is truly a great time as an NFL fan.

Maybe the most prestigious awards in the NFL is being voted Most Valuable Player. According to Unibet Sportsbook, Josh Allen (+700) is the favorite to win the award with Patrick Mahomes (+900) and Tom Brady (+900) rounding out the favorites.

NFL MVP Betting Odds 2022

Only four non-quarterbacks have won the MVP award since 2000, so it is no shock to see QBs dominating the list of favorites. Jonathan Taylor (+5000) is the favorite for non-QBs to win the award and Derrick Henry and Cooper Kupp (+6600) are the next two non-QBs to appear on the 2022 NFL MVP betting odds list. Let’s take a look at betting odds for the 2022 NFL MVP Award, per Unibet Sportsbook

Who Are the Favorites for Odds to Win NFL MVP in 2022?

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills (+700)

Josh Allen is looking to take another step forward after a disappointing end to last season. Allen being the favorite is no surprise. His 5,170 rushing and receiving yards total last year was insane, and he has all the tools to build upon his amazing season last year. The Bills are the most complete team in the NFL, and if they win the AFC in the regular season, Allen could certainly take home the MVP award.

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+900)

Tom Brady’s resume speaks for itself, and he had an amazing 2021 campaign. Brady threw for a league-leading 5,316 passing yards last year and he led the league with 43 touchdown passes. Brady has mysteriously been absent for almost all of training camp, and the Buccaneers have suffered injuries to key pieces on their offensive line. I am in no position to doubt Brady ever, but it seems like the road to being the MVP for Brady this year is rocky.

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs (+900)

Patrick Mahomes 2022 NFL MVP Futures and Best Bets

Patrick Mahomes is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now, yet he is somehow being underrated and disrespected by many major media outlets. Mahomes lost his No. 2 weapon, but the Chiefs did a great job replacing Tyreek Hill and giving Mahomes a solid cast of receivers to work with. Mahomes will have to put the team on his back in a tough AFC West division, but if he can win the division and have the No. 1 seed in the AFC, Mahomes can certainly warrant winning this award.

Best Bets for 2022 NFL MVP

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (+1000)

Justin Herbert had a remarkable season last year, and I’m not sure why he does not have higher odds than this. The Chargers missed the playoffs which hurt Herbert’s ability to win this award last season, but this year, the Chargers are built to make a stretch run. Herbert threw for 5,014 yards, 38 touchdowns, and completed 65.9% of his passes last year, and he has the chance to significantly improve on these numbers this upcoming season.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens (+1900)

Lamar Jackson took the league by storm and won the MVP award in 2019, and yet, like Mahomes, Jackson is still somehow underrated. He missed the end of last season with a few injuries, and the Ravens missed the playoffs, but they should be better this season. Jackson had the Ravens in first place before his injury and they are truly a threat to win the AFC and the Super Bowl. If Jackson can put together a full 17 games next season, he has all the talent to win MVP this year, and +1900 is a very attractive price.

Best Long Shot Bet to Win 2022 NFL MVP

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars (+6600)

Trevor Lawrence had a rough start to his NFL career, but the situation he was in last year was unprecedented. Lawrence was on an awful team with a horrible coach and a weak support system. The Jaguars hired Doug Pederson to be their head coach, and Pederson is fond of throwing the ball as often as possible. Lawrence has all the skills to be a plus NFL player, and if he lets it rip this year and the Jaguars win because of him, he can certainly win MVP.
