The tennis season keeps moving along, and we’ve reached the first of many Masters 1000 level events, as the tours stop in Miami. Much like with other events, many players have opted to skip the event, despite the 1,000-point reward to the winner. Among those skipping include Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem and Serena Williams.
Miami uses a Laykold hardcourt, the same type of court as New York moved to last summer for the U.S. Open. Miami, however, generally plays a lot slower than the New York courts played over the summer. With that said, let’s break it all down, and find some winners in what has historically been my favorite non Grand Slam tournament of the year.
