Cooper Kupp 2022 Prop Bets: Receiving Yards, TD Predictions

In 2021, Cooper Kupp not only won a Super Bowl with the Rams, but he also put together one of the most prolific receiver seasons in recent memory. Kupp won the NFL’s wide receiver triple crown, was the AP Offensive Player of the Year, and he finished third in MVP voting.

Looking at his prop bet odds for the 2022 season, oddsmakers are expecting regression from Kupp this season. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Kupps receiving yard prop is set at 1,300.5 yards and his TD reception prop is set at 11.5 touchdowns. Kupp had 1,947 receiving yards last season and 16 touchdowns.

While Kupp’s numbers last season were so monstrous they will be hard to replicate, it is still shocking to see his receiving yards total be 600 yards under the total he finished with last year. While I understand touchdowns having a higher variance, so the drop in odds there makes sense, his receiving yards prop is a bit of a head-scratcher.

The Rams signed Allen Robinson from the Bears this offseason to replace Robert Woods, and while Robinson is arguably the better pass catcher, I do not think this signing takes away from Kupp’s 2022 outlook. Kupp gets the ball in double coverage and even when the defense knows the ball is going to him. Sean McVay will not just stop force-feeding Kupp, their best offensive player.

If Kupp stays healthy in 2022, I am not saying he will put up another 1,900-yard season, but 1,300.5 yards seems like a low total.

Let’s dive into the odds for Cooper Kupp‘s 2022 NFL season.

How Many Receiving Yards will Cooper Kupp Have in 2022?

Over 1,300.5 (-115)

Last season, Cooper Kupp was targeted 191 times, catching 145 for 1,947 yards. Kupp led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards and posted 13.4 yards per reception in 2021.

In 2022, Kupp has basically the same competition for targets and is now in his second year with QB Matthew Stafford. McVay knows how valuable Kupp is, and Stafford trusts him, so I expect this trio to get more creative with getting Kupp the football next season.

Opposing defenses can try to stop Kupp all they want, but it was to no avail last season. Kupp recorded 70 first downs last season, meaning when the other team knew the ball was going to him, he was still able to get open and make the play on many occasions.

I understand regression, and I understand staying healthy is difficult in football, but 1,300.5 yards is way too low. Kupp will probably not eclipse 1,900 yards again, but 1,300.5 seems like a safe number to hit the over.

How Many Touchdown Receptions Will Cooper Kupp Have in 2022?

Under 11.5 touchdowns (-115)

Touchdowns have some of the highest variance from year to year, meaning it is very difficult to project season after season how many times a player will make it into the end zone. A lot of factors go into touchdown production such as red zone target percentage, red zone snaps, yards per target and more.

Kupp excelled in most of those stats last season as the Rams’ No. 1 receiving option. Kupp was able to find paydirt 16 times last season over 17 games, the most for NFL wide receivers. Unfortunately for Kupp, bookmakers, and myself, expect massive regression for his touchdown totals next season.

While the Rams are more or less going to be the same offensive team next year, I do not see how Kupp will free himself up for 12 or more scores this year. LA should have their two-headed monster of Darrell Henderson and Cam Akers back to score more touchdowns on the ground, and Allen Robinsons’ huge frame gives him a bigger red zone target for Matt Stafford.

I’m not saying Kupp will not get red zone opportunities, but I do believe it will be more difficult for Kupp to make the most of these situations and put up another season of 12-plus touchdowns.
