Season Record: 69-62, +6.71 (Bonus not included in record)

The reason I list three official picks is because I don’t want to confuse anyone with too many picks. I also feel strong about my bonus picks, but they are longer shots. If you’re looking for more be sure to check out our Pick Tracker

The Best NHL Prop Bets

Kirill Marchenko Over 2.5 SOG

(-125, BetRivers)

You’d think with 15 games and 30 teams on the ice, I’d have several NHL props to choose from, but that’s not the case. It’s going to be a weird NHL slate with a bit of uncertainty. The Blue Jackets have been playing meaningless hockey games for months and their opponent in the Pittsburgh Penguins were bounced in their last game, so nothing is on the line for either team in this matchup. It’s been a long season for Columbus but a great first year for rookie forward Kirill Marchenko. The winger only has four assists, but he has 21 goals. He’s a volume shooter who has a great release. A goal scorer and not a playmaker so we’re going after his shot prop. Marchenko has at least three shots on goal in four of his last five games and six of his last nine. He only averaged 13 minutes per game in the first two months of the season, but he received 18 minutes per game in February and March, and he’s averaging 20 per game through six games in April.

Bonus

Brayden Point Over 2.5 SOG

(-130, DraftKings Sportsbook)

I’m chasing the milestone narrative with Brayden Point, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. There’s really no reason for Tampa Bay to roll out their big guns in a meaningless game against Detroit, besides the fact they’ve lost four straight games and eight of their last 11. Perhaps, the three-time defending Eastern Conference champs are lacking confidence and they’re looking to enter the Stanley Cup playoffs on a high note. Well, there’s another reason for Point to play and that’s because he’s stuck on 49 goals. If you don’t think he or the team cares about 50 goals, Point logged 22:56 (fourth-highest TOI this season) in his last game and he had seven shots on goal. Point has 14 shots in three games against the Red Wings this season and he had nine in one matchup against them.

Roope Hintz Over 2.5 SOG

(-105, DraftKings Sportsbook)

We got this at +120 Wednesday, and I’m going right back to it. I understand Hintz is playing in the second half of a back-to-back, but he’s playing in the same matchup he had last night and at home this time, so you can argue this is a better spot for the Stars’ center. Hintz scored his 37th goal of the season on three shots. Look for Hintz to hit the score sheet as well as he’s one goal away from setting a career high, and he’s picked up 13 points in his last 11 games.

Bonus

  • Jason Robertson Over 1.5 Points (+145, DraftKings)
  • Hintz & Joe Pavelski Points SGP (+110, Bet365)
  • Evgenii Dadonov Point (+108, FanDuel)
  • Tyler Seguin Point (-128, FanDuel)
  • Wyatt Johnston & Jamie Benn Points SGP (+200, Bet365)

I shared a few other NHL props to consider on Mean Streets, including an 8-1 point parlay. If you’re looking for some longer shot bets, check out the Bet Tracker. We could see a lot of action in the Buffalo and Ottawa matchup, so I’ve added a few props at FTN Bets.
