Portland’s oversized dancing bear, a wide-bodied paint pounder whose added balance is absolutely key to the Blazers’ long-term success, may not be a multidimensional tour de force similar to Nikola Jokic, but his passing skills shouldn’t be underestimated. In 23.8 minutes per game in April, he averaged 3.8 assists per game, dishing out four dimes or more in nine of 13 contests. When you have surrounding players who can knock down set threes off a post pass, especially Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, passing numbers can pile up quickly. The matchup is a plus one. According to the FTN Daily Advanced DvP tool, the Celtics are the 11th-best matchup for a skilled center. Equally alluring, Boston has allowed 27.7 assists per game over their last three clashes, the ninth-most in the NBA. Feed the bear.
