There is no single event, aside from the Super Bowl, that entices sports bettors quite like March Madness. With the 2024 NCAA Tournament set to take place in Glendale, Arizona, this year, college basketball postseason play is back and better than ever. This means NCAA bracketology is also back in play, and this has been one of the crazier years with a lot of teams vying for their shot to make the big dance.

Connecticut's NCAA Tournament Odds

The Huskies are the favorite to win back-to-back National Championships, and with good reason. Head coach Danny Hurley has reloaded with a balanced team that can score at all three levels of the court and defends at an elite level. UConn is anchored in the middle by 7-foot-2 Donovan Clingan, while adding elite transfer Cam Spencer from Rutgers during the summer. The Huskies boast five players with double-digit scoring and four players that average over one steal per game. Doubters will question whether UConn really has enough depth to secure college basketball's first consecutive championship since Florida in 2006 and 2007. With the nation's longest current winning streak (12 games), there is simply no reason to doubt the Huskies can hoist that coveted trophy yet again.

Purdue's NCAA Tournament Odds

We've seen a team go from a historic NCAA Tournament exit to the title once before, and Purdue is looking to recreate the magic of Virginia's remarkable redemption tour of 2019. The Boilermakers are shooting 40% from 3P range while enjoying the benefits of 7-foot-4 reigning National Player of the Year, Zach Edey, in the middle. Purdue is right behind UConn in futures odds, and have separated from the competition in the Big Ten. With Fletcher Loyer and Braden Smith gaining valuable experience in the backcourt, I expect a deep NCAA Tournament run in 2024. If a team wants to eliminate Purdue, it will require a Herculean effort.

Top Cinderella Teams for 2024 March Madness

Small schools have leveled the playing field by using the transfer market to add experience and leadership. Look no further than the Missouri Valley Conference, where Indiana State, Drake, and Bradley all fit the profile of a March Madness Cinderella. Brilliant head coach Amir Abdur-Rahim has brought his magic to South Florida, who leads the AAC after being voted ninth in the preseason poll. We've also seen the potential of UNC Wilmington, earning a true road win at Kentucky in December. Head coach Takayo Siddle's Seahawks bring experience, roster continuity, and the ability to dominate the mid-range area of the court. So many Cinderella's at this year's March Madness ball.
